Mentoring Skills

True North Learning’s “Mentoring Skills” program provides individual managers and leaders with the skills to mentor and coach within the organisation.

With managers expected to develop and retain their talent, there is a growing focus on internal coaching and mentoring with organisations. This aligns with a change in the emphasis of their role from  “manager as expert” to “manager as coach”, shifting from simply providing answers and advice to mentoring direct reports so as to build their capacity within their role.

How it works:

Mentoring is a management skill that requires training, experience and support to be effective. We work with your nominated mentors to improve individual mentoring skills and build a support structure so that a consistent approach is delivered and maximum benefits are returned.

What it delivers:

The True North Learning program will, using proven Experiential Learning methodologies, develop individual managers or leaders to become an internal coach to direct reports. The program will deliver:
  • Individual understanding of the role of a mentor generally and within the organisational structure.
  • Skills for internal mentoring.
  • Understanding of how to utilise support networks as a mentor.
  • Understanding of how to embed continual improvement and measurement into mentoring.

This program utilises the True North Learning proven Experiential Learning methodologies and complements the Leadership Development, Team Effectiveness and Executive Coaching programs.
