Resistance to change and/or transition is a normal reaction to an emotional process taking place within an individual, team or organisation. In fact, resistance is often the sign that the change process is right on track as people grapple with and transition through changes that are just beyond their comfort zones.
Unravelling resistance facilitates people through the mental, emotional and psychological transition that needs to occur before they can have buy-in to a particular change initiative. Deeply and thoroughly understanding resistance supports people through the transition aspect of a change initiative. Additionally, embedded within the resistance are often new ways of communicating, working together and doing business which when implemented support innovation and efficiency, therefore building Organisational Health.
